An Usatyr holiday celebrated on the planet of Vali, the Harvest of the Twin Moons is a week long celebration that prepares the Usatyr for winter months.

Considered one of the Usatyr's most important holidays, the harvest festival is triggered by the appearance of 'twin' moons in the night sky. While the phenomenon is due to the changing of seasons scattering ice crystals into the atmosphere, causing the moon to mirror itself, the Usatyr believe it to be their deity, Anaranaka, transforming into his other form, Akanarana.

Usatyr believe that Akanarana awakens to ferry in winter and the spirit of their lost loved ones to guide them in the hunt. At the end of the festival, these spirits return with Akanarana to the 'darkside' of the moon.

The week long celebration involves Usatyr of all ages, big and small, coming together to hunt, gather, and make merry beneath the twin moons, as they grow closer together with each passing night. These celebrations include competitions, games, food, and music.

Events that go on during the Harvest of the Twin Moons:

The Red Hunt - A competitive hunt under the light of the red moon, a night during the harvest festival were both moons unite as one and bathe everything in red. During which, unique and rare creatures appear in the woods around the Usatyr villages. The resulting hunt provides meat, hides, and rare materials.

The Bounty's Feast - A closing feast celebrating a successful harvest week. A night of pure celebration, filled with music, dancing, and plenty of alcohol. The feast goes until dawn, when the last glimmer of the twin moons disappears.
